Firhad Hakim resigns as Kolkata Mayor, says "never wanted to sit on this chair"
Actor and former MLA Soham Chakraborty has been booked following a complaint alleging fraud of ₹1.05 crore in connection with a film project. The complaint was filed at Charu Market Police Station and alleges that money was accepted in the name of producing a film, but the promised work was not carried out. A case has reportedly been registered under multiple sections, including charges related to cheating.
According to the complaint, Soham allegedly received funds for a film project but failed to fulfil the commitments associated with the agreement. The complainants have accused him of accepting money for the production while not delivering the work that had been promised. Police have initiated legal proceedings and begun examining the allegations.
The latest complaint comes days after film producer Tarun Das lodged a separate complaint against Soham at Balurghat Police Station. Das alleged that he had paid ₹15 lakh to the actor for playing the lead role in a film. According to the producer, Soham allegedly did not report for shooting despite accepting the payment.
The producer further alleged that when he sought a refund of the money, he was threatened. Authorities are expected to examine financial transactions and other evidence related to both sets of allegations. The accusations remain allegations at this stage, and the investigation is ongoing.
